When Should I Hire the Construction Manager at Risk?

The CMR assumes tasks formerly assigned exclusively to the Architect, such as Scheduling and Budgeting. Unfortunately, many School Boards don’t take advantage of these benefits, and wait to hire the Construction Manager too late, when the drawings are almost complete. Often, School Boards and Architects are unaware of this part of the process. Other times, an Architect may be uncomfortable with having a third party review their work, and resist attempts at hiring Construction Professionals until it becomes an absolute necessity.
